The sky is a precious individual made up of so many things.
The sky graciously holds our sun,
who sits fixedly in our horizon beaming with love,
reflecting sunshine and warmth throughout our cities.
Feeding the sweet and radiant flowers in our fields.
Giving to the bees and butterflies
who pollinate our trees and give us air to breath.
The sky holds our moon,
the brightest object who lights the night
while holding our stars that gifts
us our dreams and nightmares.
We haven’t loved our sky,
nor cared for our sky and now it’s dull.
With flame lit trees polluting our land, polluting our seas,
polluting ourselves and killing the bees.
So take the time to love our sky and wish upon a shooting star,
Will your dreams come true? Or will the place we love burn down with them too.

‘All I could think about when writing this poem was writing for change. The environment and nature are such important pieces of me that I carry dearly in my heart. As you read this poem ask yourself, “What change can I make to better my community and keep the trees in my yard the beautiful color they are meant to be?” ‘
