Finding Our Way (to the sublime and other good places)
Hello! Hope you’re all well, and ready to plunge into a conversation that matters because our society, civilization and global ecology are in such deep trouble, I ask your help and cooperation to communicate between our higher selves about our shared predicament.
I refer here to the climate crisis, peak oil, the dysfunctionalities of government, and the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well being of We the People. The world economic forum identifies seventy-eight unresolved global problems. I am an optimist. I believe there are courses of action available to respond meaningfully to the potentially catastrophic trends if we gather our hearts, wits, spirits, and souls in common purpose, over the long emergency.
Undoubtedly there is benefit to being aware of how we got into this pickle. But I avoid getting into a whodunit or why, and focus on getting ‘traction’ on thoughtful ways out of the snake pit and on to a path of stacked positive multipliers beckoning from the fast solidifying eco paradigm. Helpful participation is greatly appreciated.
Leading up to this, we read thousands of pages of relevant books and magazine articles, attended hundreds of meetings, watched documentaries, had community dialogs and attended or staged public events like peace marches and Earth Days. Our predicament became more and more unavoidable to address.
Out of all this came awareness and appreciation of the wholistic and timely approaches such as quantum theory, everything is connected to everything else, entanglement, energy conservation, incentives for alternative transportation, Transition Initiatives, Permaculture, Pattern Language, social networking, recapturing democracy, peace and justice for We the People, taxes guided by the ability to pay. Pay according to a $10/hr minimum wage. A globally competitive single payer health care system; Subsidies to encourage rapid conversion to a menu of safe carbon neutral energy sources such as forest gardening, tree planting, solar, micro hydro, wind, photo voltaic, wave and bio as long as it shuns competition for food acreage.
Other things to shun include increasingly probable societal chaos, single-issue politics, reductionism, outrageously dangerous and expensive nuclear power, fossil fuel, dirty coal, oil sand, fracking gas, oil, drug, and terror wars, and fictitious personhood for corporations. Special interest ownership of our governments and media monopolies can be ended if all elections are publically funded and if $1000 for $1 donation-payola-bribe earmark end in a cold-turkey-quit or jail time for both parties. Perhaps its time for voters to make a list of non-negotiable demands for the cleaning up of the most corrupt government on the planet.
According to systems and chaos theory, systems close to failure tend to have a window of sensitivity when modest pressure can have disproportionate influence to correct course in this case in the direction of an eco/wisdom paradigm. If some of this is close to your heart, please join us to help shape positive outcomes.
Great thank you’s go out to Greg Nirschberg, Peter Crownfield, Martin Boksenbaum, for the Alliance’s new web site! It is joyous, alive and interactive! It was several months of intense work, yes, but we so need this tool to do our essential social networking, to build to numbers of informed participants that our goals require. Our goal is to respond meaningfully on the regional level to the great issues of our times. I am so grateful, so grateful that I offer a little song, poem prose in celebration:
Oh great spirit, oh great spirit, oh great spirit! (with enthusiasm and spirit)
Of land, sea, fire, and sky (ascending)
You’ allll arrrrround and deeep inside of me, (meeee, us repeat thrice)
Let us be clear channels for healing energies
Coming in from the far corners of the universe
And from very close at hand
As well as from everywhere in between
May the constant stream of life energy
Spark, joy, enthusiasm, and Love
As we explore the many interrelated ways forward.
We stand on the proverbial shoulders of a million generations
That brought us conscious awareness and responsibility
To help sustain the dynamic balance of nature
We materialize in the nurturing lap of mother earth
A link in the chain of evolution upon which future generations
Depend for continuity and opportunity
Hearts, minds, bodies, spirit, soul
Capable of intuition, imagination and manifestation
Our entire matrix of organisms,
In all our diversity constituting thriving eco systems
That is a sublime condition devoutly to be our quest
Let it be so!
