I can’t believe we’re already in week nine of the “Rethinking the Food System” project. Looking at all of the material, research, and effort we put into this project is rewarding and honestly changed my perspective on sustainability. Coming into the project, I was worried about not being able to keep up with the science/environmental aspect of the project, since I’m an English major. Learning along the way has reshaped how I view food, the environment, my relationship with local businesses and restaurants, and countless other important realizations.
As I mentioned last week, our final presentations will occur this upcoming week on August 1st and 2nd at 10 a.m. Each presentation is the same, we just wanted to offer more than one day, since the summertime is so busy for most people. I attached the flyer that Corena, one of the other interns, created for the presentation. This presentation will not be the run-of-the-mill information-dump that many presentations fall victim to. We have rich discussion questions throughout as well as moments to engage in organic conversation, ask questions, and get to know one another. If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP for the Zoom link!
Please be on the lookout for the project’s report, wellness policy recommendations, fact sheets, resource page, and website, which will all be available to the public shortly!
Reminder that the Sustainable Lehigh Valley booklet is still accepting submissions for the next edition! This is a great opportunity for writers and artists to get their work published.
