Sustainable Lehigh Valley booklet
Here’s a great way to use your creative abilities to help move us towards a more-sustainable world! No matter whether your primary interest is the climate, environment, healthy food, social justice, public health, more-resilient communities, true democracy, or any other aspect of sustainability, this is an opportunity to make a difference!
We’ve restructured our Sustainable Lehigh Valley booklet so we can feature more writing and art. One reason for this change is that while the sciences provide facts & understanding we need to make key decisions, all too many people ignore scientific writing or studies — and the sciences don’t usually help us grasp the ethical & moral dimensions. One thing we do know is that good writing and art can catch people’s attention and help raise awareness.
We welcome submissions from all ages and backgrounds, and we’re looking for a variety of creative work:
- Writing — short stories, poems, descriptive features, and essays
- Visual art — drawings, photographs, and other forms that reproduce well
- Hybrids — including graphic stories or essays, editorial cartoons, and more
This is an open call, with submissions reviewed on a rolling basis for upcoming issues. It has to be related to sustainability, of course — but the Alliance’s view of sustainability has always been very broad, extending far beyond traditional environmental concerns. [See the Full Guidelines & our Vision, Mission, & Goals.]
As always, the Sustainable Lehigh Valley booklet is distributed free of charge in both digital & print editions, and we are now accepting submissions for the next issue! [Be sure to read the Full Guidelines.]
Please consider submitting something yourself and share this with your friends!
