Rebecca Canright
Darkness falling, lustrous
sky full of night impending
paintbrush-tailed horses
etch stars into existence
like books opening and
reading themselves aloud,
vines of mystery
felt only with eyes closed,
never seen.
Far away, icicle comes
to rest, fallen on frozen lake
fallen, but not unhappy
resting in being
Rebecca grew up on an organic farm in New Jersey and attended Evergreen State College in Washington, where she studied environmental policy and French. She currently works with children in outdoor education.
I enjoy sharing my love of wildlife, plants, and nature with folks of all ages, and believes that when we are in awe of nature, we are more motivated to protect it. And sharing art is one good way of inspiring a connection with nature. Poetry is one of my favorite art forms.
