To have a sustainable community, there must be consciously aware humans who desire a lifestyle that is conducive to supporting each other, as well as the environment in which we live. Our human-ness, our individuality, and our sense of purpose, have not been valued in our fast paced, stressful society. The allopathic medical community has concentrated on using medication for a quick fix. Holistic healing requires healing in every way in your body (physical), in your feelings (emotional), in your thoughts (mental), and in your understanding of your relation to others and to the universe (spiritual). True health is not just the absence of disease, but the presence of vibrant co-creative life.
Holistic healing invites each of us to connect very personally with the macro and micro levels of our lives for there is really no difference and no separation separation is an illusion. Louise Hay, in her book You Can Heal Your Life, states: “I believe we create every so-called illness in our body. The body like everything else is a mirror of our inner thoughts and beliefs. Every cell within your body responds to every single thought you think and every word you speak.” When we stuff our emotions, that energy goes into the body to create disease there is no separation between the mind and the body. Likewise, shamans, the healers of the ancient civilizations, are teaching us to re-establish the lost connection to plants, animals, and the earth. The archetypal powers of each animal are in each of us and we are all connected in the collective unconsciousness of Gaia.Shamans are skilled at retrieving information from animal totems to help us heal our physical- emotional-mental-spiritual wounds. Holistic healing modalities, such as shamanism, reiki, shiatsu, massage, yoga, guided meditation, dream analysis, whole foods, and essential oils, are by far more superior than taking a pill to mask a symptom.
