Urban Ecology uses urban planning, ecology, and public participation to help develop cities that are healthier places to live. This isn’t just about green space or plants, although they can be important.
Like any other type of ecology, urban ecology needs to consider the natural environment, the built environment, and their interactions. How does urban ecology relate to law enforcement and the justice system? …to diversity? …to social justice?
(This parallels the Alliance’s overall mission & goals, but each intern will also focus on a specific area for the term of the internship.)
This internship is still being developed — and the first interns will help shape the internship — but some of the same concerns also are explored in the Community Planning for Resilience & Sustainability internship.
