Third Thursday Film Club

On the third Thursday of the month, the SouthSide Film Institute presents a socially-conscious film that merits viewing and discussion—Admission is free! [Donations welcome, of course.] Our purpose is to give venue to pertinent and well-crafted documentary films that unfortunately do not have a market in mainstream cinema. Admission is free. 1/17/13: Dear Governor Cuomo

The SouthSide Film Institute and Food & Water Watch will be hosting a screening ofDear Governor Cuomo, a film written and directed by Jon Bowermaster that chronicles a coalition of citizens, musicians, scientists, and activists fighting for a ban on hydraulic fracturing in New York State and to prevent New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s potential lifting on a fracking moratorium.

Dear Governor Cuomo features commentary from actors Mark Ruffalo and Melissa Leo and environmental biologist Sanda Steingraber and live concert performances from musicians Natalie Merchant, Joan Osborne, Dan Zanes, the Felice Brothers, Citizen Cope, Medeski Martin & Wood and more.

(Note: No Third Thursday screening in June and December.)
