Taste of the Lehigh Valley 2011

Date/Time Sunday, September 25, 2011
from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Details

Be prepared to be awed as you sample the freshest, tastiest farm-to-table cuisine that the Lehigh Valley has to offer. Enjoy menu items containing at least two locally-grown ingredients from the area’s finest chefs, along with tastings of local wines, beer, and cider.

Meet the Farmers!
We have asked participants to invite one of their farmers to stand at their table with them. Come meet the person that raised or grew the food that you are eating!

Cookbook Signing!
Rita Calvert will be on hand to sign copies of her new cookbook “The Grassfed Gourmet Cookbook Fires It Up!”, the ultimate guide to grilling, smoking, and barbecuing with pasture-raised meats.

Judging:
Five guest judges will be grading menu items on creativity, presentation, taste, and the use of locally-grown foods:

  • Diane Stoneback – The Morning Call
  • Kelly Huth – The Express-Times
  • Will Lewis & Kimberly Davidow – WFMZ
  • Nancy Brannigan Painter – Edible Jersey
  • Rita Calvert – The Grassfed Gourmet Fires It Up!

Tickets:
Tickets: $30 in advance / $35 at door
Two options: 1 – 3 pm and 3 – 5 pm.
VIP tickets: $60 (limited to 150) – VIP ticket-holders will have the exclusive privilege of early admission beginning at 12 noon. As well, Subarashii Kudamono is offering tastings of its special Eau de Vie, an Asian pear brandy.

Tickets available online or from Event Participants (see list below).

We’re Composting!
BFBL-GLV and Melt are proud to announce that we’ll be using biodegradable dishes, cups, and cutlery at this year’s event. These will be composted, along with any food waste, at Four Springs Farm in Lehigh County. A big thank you to Diane and Ken Gehringer for helping us out.

All proceeds benefit the Greater Lehigh Valley chapter of Buy Fresh Buy Local. Come on out and support our many programs:

  • marketing support for our farmers and local food providers;
  • consumer education about the many good reasons to choose locally-grown foods;
  • speaking engagements;
  • farm-to-school programs;
  • Local Foods Guide;
  • and food events to let people taste how good locally-grown food really is.

Help us build the Greater Lehigh Valley local food economy.
