Demand Reduction
The current energy system wastes vast amounts of energy. The easiest and most cost-effective way to make sure we have enough energy is to reduce demand.
For example:
- Walk, ride a bicycle, or use public transit instead of driving—it’s easy, fun, and good for your health!
- Turn off unneeded lights and/or reduce the wattage
- Replace incandescents with CFLs or LEDs; replace high-intensity discharge lamps with induction or LED lighting
- Set thermostats to 20°C (68°F) or lower when heat is on, 25°C (77°F) or higher if cooling is needed.
