Occupy Allentown –
We are the 99 percent! We are being forced out of our homes. We are faced each month with choosing to pay for medication, groceries, utilities or rent. We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution. We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we’re lucky to be working at all. We’ve all known our government is flawed and needs correction. We can create the solution for ourselves. We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is taking everything. We are the 99 percent!
Occupywallstreet is a leaderless resistance movement made up of the 99% of Americans that will no longer take the greed and corruption of the wealthy 1%. For those of us in the Lehigh Valley region that cannot be physically present in NYC to protest with our fellow 99%, the only way we can show support to is to stand in solidarity and get the message known in Allentown and the entire Lehigh Valley. WE ARE THE 99%.
Occupy Allentown has been organizing to occupy downtown Allentown at the intersection of 7th St and Hamilton St at the monument. We are meeting to gather the community together in solidarity and support for the Occupy Wall Street Movement and to exchange ideas that will facilitate change within our community and within our country.
Occupy Allentown started on Monday, October 3 at 12:00pm with 100 people attending and has continued everyday since.
- While this is an “everyday” event we are putting extra emphasis on Saturdays.
- The event typically runs everyday from 12 noon to 8:30pm
