As we work to build awareness of sustainability and mobilize people to act, finding effective ways to communicate what sustainability is and the many interdependent elements of sustainability to a sometimes unreceptive audience is a real challenge.
The communications intern will work to develop more effective media, print, and online communications for projects and initiatives by the Alliance and partner organizations. Interns also will gain a strong understanding of the multiple elements of sustainability and strengthen their project development and project management skills. Specific tasks will depend on the needs at the time, but likely activities include:
- Working with specific project teams to facilitate more effective communications
- Help develop a multifaceted media strategy to more effectively communicate various aspects of sustainability
- Monitor and analyze coverage of various issues in local media;
- Preparing news releases
- Drafting opinion pieces and position papers for local media and the Alliance website
